The Autism Housing Development Corporation of Pittsburgh, in partnership with ACTION Housing Inc., is excited to begin development of its first project, a 42 unit, 1 & 2 bedroom affordable housing apartment building in Heidelberg, PA. It is located six miles from downtown Pittsburgh, which is linked by bus service that runs 33 times a day.
This will be a 50,000 sf building. There will be a preference for 21 of the units to be occupied by adults on the autism spectrum. There are modern amenities including quiet lounges, community rooms, exercise room and supportive services for all residents. Six of the apartments are for those with physical disabilities and an additional two are adapted for those with audio-visual needs.
The building will be completed in the summer of 2016.
